My name is Mary Catherine Smith, sometimes I go by MC. This is a website that I coded in html from scratch to display my work, art, and anything else my heart desires.

I am an artist, originally from Chicago, and now I live in Brooklyn. I have always been endlessly curious, which has led me to explore many different mediums that all feed each other in layered ways. I consistently make a lot of soft goods like rugged leather and canvas bags, and sport oriented outerwear pieces of apparel. It wasn't until I moved to New York that I began to exercise painting and more traditional sculpture pieces (although I do feel that all of my work is sculptural even when I write). I have always kept journals and written short stories since I was in high school, but it has taken the perfect mixture of ambition and delusion to begin writing my first fiction novel. As a woman from the midwest, my art often reflects a quiet part of me, staring into the vast cornfields that yearn to grow upwards into the mountains or buildings. A place that breaks up the sky. I am fascinated with tools, femininity, and blue collar pride. I learned dedication from my obsession with sport and feats of strength. I practice art for my heart and to partake in the magic that accompanies turning something very internal into something I can share.
