Smith, Smith, and McBeath all hail from the Midwest region of America. There's not a palace in the midwest like the ones the Brits get. But, that fancy for excess is shared.

This is a garage sale. We want your leftovers, we want your unfinished work, we want the work that you made that you hate, because all of that is desireable.
Virtual Materials Production Artist, on Virtual Materials team, at Nike Inc. Beaverton, OR, 2023.
During my time working at Nike I created virtual materials in CLO3D, substance designer, and photoshop that would be used by designers when rendering apparel designs. I made some fabrics from scratch using computational design programs like substance designer. Most of the fabrics I created were based on a real fabric that I could scan for normal maps, record/input physical data, and combine into a virtual fabric that would drape and stretch correctly.
Women's Jogging Suit. MC Smith, 2022. University of Oregon. Procreate and CLO3D.
I designed this jogging suit to reflect the feeling of cotton athletic clothing depicted in classic films like Rocky. It is a women's jogging suit that I sketched in procreate, and rendered in CLO3D.

This collection was made for a post apocalyptic world that proects the athlete from heat, sun, and dust storms. I reseached the conditions of an environment post desertification catalyzed by climate change. This collection is made from natural materials such as hemp and linen that will protect the athlete and provide thermoregualtion for their active lifestyle.
The Hardwater Parka is an ice fishing jacket that I designed during my time in graduate school at University of Oregon. It is designed for ice fisherman. Usually an ice fisherman must use a shelter that they must set up enable to stay warm and fish for longer periods of time. I chose to make this jacket so the fisherman can easily change locations and deploy their own shelter in a few steps without having to carry it with the rest of their gear.
